Becoming a Chiropractic Patient
How does one become a patient of Mountain Health Chiropractic & Neurology Center?

Not everyone is a good candidate for chiropractic neurology. That's why we offer a free 15-minute consultation before scheduling our intake exam and treatment.

When considering working with Mountain Health Chiropractic & Neurology Center, it's important to understand that we do not work with everyone. Not everyone who calls our office becomes our patients — you have to be qualified by one of our doctors to be treated in our office... meaning you have to have the criteria necessary for chiropractic neurology to help your case.

The steps involved in becoming a patient are:

Step 1. Free initial consultation

Our initial consultation will review your current symptoms and identify whether you're an appropriate candidate for our chiropractic neurology practice. If it's determined that you are a good candidate for our care, you'll proceed to our comprehensive intake exam.

Our comprehensive exam is what sets us apart from our competition (see what makes us different for more information). The exam is to further our knowledge of your brain-body connection to see if in fact we can help you.

Step 2. Comprehensive Intake Exam

Our comprehensive intake exam will
give us a very clear, comprehensive
picture of your health.

Our Comprehensive Exam takes into consideration past medical testing and diagnosis also.

It is important to see what has been done and compare it to where you are today.

We start with a complete, whole-body exam to discover how your body's inner workings can be affecting your health and why.

After an in depth interview, where we discuss and review your body systems, we perform a comprehensive Chiropractic Neurology exam including orthopedic, spinal, physical, and of course neurological evaluations.

It is important to have knowledge of all your body systems and how they are working with each other. Only then can we begin to get a complete picture of your overall health and brain-body connection.

A Chiropractic Neurology exam is similar to that of a Medical Neurology exam. They differ in their interpretation of findings.

We do neurological testing —
with all of our patients, young
and old — as part of our comprehensive intake exam.

Have you been told by your doctor that nothing seems to be wrong?

This is a common complaint we get... "If nothing is wrong then why am I in pain?" or "They couldn't find anything wrong but I still have this symptom."

We understand the doctors may not have found pathology related to your nervous system.

There is a chance you could have a functional abnormality in your nervous system. This is essentially an operating system gone wrong. It typically does not show up on a conventional neurology examination, MRI, CT, etc. due to its subtlety.

We employ certain evaluation techniques, which allow us to "see" the problem more clearly as it exists…functionally.

Some of the evaluation techniques we use are:
  • Computerized blind spot evaluation
  • Vestibulo-ocular testing
  • Optokinetic nystagmus testing
  • Pursuit and saccade testing of the eyes
  • Computerized timing and planning exam
  • Vestibular and cerebellum assessments
  • Coordination testing
  • Mental status evaluations
  • Motor testing to check for muscular imbalances
  • Sensory perception tests including cranial nerves and peripheral nerves, motor reflexes, primitive reflexes and balance

In addition, traditional physical exam practices are used. You will also receive a heart and lung screening, blood pressure, and visual exam.

As a bonus, we do oxygen level evaluation, heart rate evaluation, and stress testing to evaluate your autonomic nervous system, which is how your body responds to stress.

As you can see, the Comprehensive Intake Exam is just that — comprehensive! Expect this appointment to take 1-2 hours. Depending on your symptoms, we may recommend additional testing, for further investigation into your condition, after your examination is complete.

Step 3. Individualized Treatment Plan

It's important to work with a health
professional that looks at more than
just symptoms.

After your Comprehensive Intake Exam, we'll gather the information you've given us with your test results to create a personalized treatment plan.

This plan may include additional lab work or follow-up testing. We'll provide a report of our findings, lay out our proposed treatment plan and work with you to review your financial options.
